Crucified By The System Acrylic on Canvas Art by Fernando Carpaneda

"Crucified By The System"

Acrylic on Canvas, 16"x 20". Year: 2021.

Crucified by the System speaks about male nude subjects and the artists who create erotic works. These artists, like me, continue to be censored on Instagram and Facebook, and we don't get much space on other social media. Work is deleted. Quality work, many of these figurative artists who explore erotic art end up being crucified by the gate keepers.

Tsunami on Rockaway Beach is about climate change Acrylic on Canvas Art by Fernando Carpaneda

 "Tsunami on Rockaway Beach"

Acrylic on Canvas, 24"x 36". Year: 2022.

Tsunami on Rockaway Beach is about climate change, and its consequences. The work was inspired by the deadly Tsunami like event that took place in 1923 at Rockaway Park, Long Island, NY. Five children from the Convalescent Home for Hebrew Children were bathing on the beach when they were hit by “a large and unusual wave” which pulled them out to sea. Two did not survive. Learning of this I thought of the song Rockaway Beach by The Ramones and so chose to portray two rockers on the beach.

Climate change is a reality and we must be aware of its consequences.

Jesus Christ Acrylic on Canvas Art by Fernando Carpaneda

"Jesus Christ"

Acrylic on Canvas, 16"x 20". Year: 2020.

Jesus Christ is a portrait that dialogues with classic paintings, but with a different focus. I try to intervene in the social reality that surrounds me, shifting certain notions of right or wrong in my work. The painting speaks of freedom, of being what you are, without fear of assuming your ideas and ideals. This also shows other possibilities in portraits of religious figures. The painting represents what was preached to us by Jesus Christ, “Love one another.”

"Homophobia Kills. Case Number 17"

Acrylic on Canvas, 16"x 20". Year: 2020.

Homophobia kills. Case Number 17. It is a personal work, a page in my diary, and makes reference to an aggression which I suffered 20 years ago. I was beaten, stabbed in the back by a homophobe who hated my paintings of male nudes and homoerotic works. The painting is also an alert to the current events suffered by the LGBTQIA+ community around the world.
